Opera NEO 2015

Based in beautiful San Diego, CA Opera NEO is a young artist program which spans from July 15th to August 16th 2015. Daveed is happy to announce that this summer he will return to Opera NEO as a young artist! During the festival Daveed will sing the role of M. Vogelsang in Mozart's The Impresario with a new english translation by director Josh Shaw and conducted by Alexander Kahn. While at Opera NEO Daveed will also participate in the annual Aria marathon, will cover the role of Ramendado in Bizet's Carmen and participate as an ensemble member in Handel's Rinaldo. In addition to his main stage performances Daveed will also participate in a Cabaret style evening of Opera and Musical Theater scenes where he will portray Ferrando from Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Cascada from the Merry Widow by Léhar and Fenton from Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Tosca

This May, Daveed will be performing as an ensemble member and covering the role of Spoletta in Cleveland Opera Theater's production of Giacomo Puccini's tragic opera "Tosca."

COT's spring Mainstage production features Giacomo Puccini's Masterpiece, and one of opera's most celebrated divas, Tosca.  

Tosca will be performed with full orchestra, chorus, costumes, and will feature sets designed by legendary architect Richard Fleischman.

Performances will be at the Cleveland Performance Arts Center May 8th at 7:30 and May 10th at 3:00 PM at the Masonic Auditorium featuring "the best sound in town!

La Finta Giardiniera

Daveed will sing the role of Il Contino Belfiore in Oberlin Opera Theater's production of La Finta Giardiniera by Mozart on March 13th at 8:00 and March 15th at 2:00. The production is stage directed by Jonathon Field and conducted by Maestro Raphael Jimenez. Daveed is very excited to return for his fourth production with Oberlin Opera Theater.

Written by the master at age 18, La finta giardiniera (“The Pretend Garden-Girl”) focuses on Count Belfiore and Marchioness Violante Onesti, who had been lovers until Belfiore stabbed Violante in a fit of rage. As Violante eventually recovers, Belfiore becomes engaged to another woman, who becomes jealous upon learning that her suitor still has feelings for Violante. A fit of madness ensues, but eventually resolves in the reuniting of Violante and Belfiore.

Residency at Abington Friends School

Daveed is happy to announce that he has been asked to give a masterclass and private lessons to students at Abington Friends School on January 9th. An alumnus of Abington Friends School, Daveed is very excited to have the opportunity to give back to an institution that gave him so much as a musician, student and human being.   

After a wonderful visit to Abington Friends several of the students commented that working with Daveed had been a revelation, and that he taught them an extraordinary amount about their voices and techniques.

 


Songfest

This June Daveed will participate as a young artist with Songfest, an intensive performing summer training program for singers and collaborative pianists held every summer at The Colburn School in Los Angeles. The program focuses primarily on Art Song and Concert repertoire. This summer Daveed will work with such faculty members as Sanford Sylvan, Susanne Mentzer, Rudolf Piernay, Lucy Shelton composer John Musto and pianist Graham Johnson.    

Daveed is also happy to announce that he has been named a prestigeous Schubert Fellow and will enjoy a large number of high profile concerts, masterclasses, coachings and lessons with senior faculty members. Schubert Fellows are a select group of twelve young artists who show exeptional talent and promise.
